From old-school tried and tested methods to some new ones that just might take you by surprise, let’s explore our top cleaning hacks!
Oven-cleaning hacks
The Bi-carb soda and vinegar method
Make friends with bicarb soda! This is a classic method that has used for years and years and is a great hack to have up your sleeve for those not so clean ovens.
Firstly, heat the oven up slowly then allow for it to cool down. Once the oven is just warm, add just enough water to the bicarb soda that when combined makes a thin paste.
Thinly apply the paste to the inside walls of the oven, making sure not to get any of the paste on the elements.
Then place some vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the paste that you placed on the oven walls. This should create a reaction with the mixture making a fizzing sound. Leave the mixture to settle and work its magic for the next hour or so.
Next get a damp cloth to wipe the mixture off. The paste should help with removing any grease or grime that may be remaining in the oven.
Use dishwashing tablets
Yep, you read it right. Grab a dishwashing tablet, wet the top of it and rub it all over the door. Leave it for around 5minutes, then wipe the suds off with a wet cloth. The results are dazzling!
Microwave oven cleaning hack
Mix one cup of water with one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid. Microwave for 4minutes then grab a cloth and wipe the grime away. The steam from the water mix helps to ease up some of the even toughest bits of food that may have baked their way inside the microwave.
Cutting boards and surfaces hack
Another creative combo of ingredients that are cheap and easy to get a hold of are a zesty lemon and some humble salt. When the two are mixed they help to get rid of stains and odours, especially those that can be found on cutting boards and kitchen surfaces.
Vertical blind cleaning hack
For this easy cleaning hack all you will need is to mix up half water to half white vinegar. Grab an old sock and away you go! This will make the cleaning of the sometimes-tricky vertical blinds a breeze.
Squeaky clean bathtub hack
It’s time to get fruity again! Grab a grapefruit and some sugar and scrub away at soap scum and other residues in the bathtub. The grainy sugar mixed with the acidic citrus make it a great combo for cleaning tricky surfaces like the bathtub.
Window cleaning hacks
Use newspaper
Newspaper is ideal for wiping and cleaning down glass surfaces like windows. It helps to eliminate messy streaks and is also super cheap to get a hold of. Win win!
Add a drop of dishwashing aid
Let the power of a few drops of dishwashing aid to water work a treat when cleaning your windows. Being a highly concentrated product, you don’t need much to see the outcomes!
Dusting hack
Don a pair of cotton gardening gloves and you’ve got yourself a handy little hack to help with dusting intricate little things like trinkets and collectables. A spray of antibacterial agent and you’ve got an easy set of tools to really get into those hard-to-reach places.
